Wanted Book Poster
Subject: ELA
Grade level: 6-8
Information & 21st Skill Objectives:
I. Inquire- B. (Create): Learners engage with new knowledge by following a process that includes:
3) Generating products that illustrate learning.
Materials:
Pens/ pencils/ colored pencils/ crayons
“Wanted” poster handouts
Student devices/computer (if needed)
Instructional Procedures:
1. Students will have previously read a book of choice or their favorite book
2. The librarian will ask the class: “What can you tell me what a ‘wanted’ poster is?” and provide ample time for student responses;
the librarian will then explain that the purpose for the class to create their own “Wanted” poster for their favorite book to get others
excited and be curious about what the book is about
3. Librarian will model a “Wanted” poster using a sample book to present to the class
4. The librarian will pass out “Wanted” poster handouts to the students to complete and color;
students can use phones or computers if they need to locate information
5. Students will put their finished posters on a designated space in the library when they finish;
students present posters to whole class
Suggested Instructional Strategies:
Google Slides
Gallery walk
Oral presentation
Large posters for partner or group work
Assessment:
Students demonstrate knowledge of the book selected based on how much information they fill in for the poster.
Students can present their poster to the class explaining their poster and book of choice
