Pictures of the Site

Pros
  • Visually appealing
  • Includes an auto dark theme as well as: light, aqua, and sepia themes
  • Layout appearance includes: listed view, expanded view, column view, card view or magazine view to look at feeds in many ways
  • Check out various data for a feed such as: number of followers, number of posts in the week, last post, update intervals, and number of articles read under Feed Properties
  • Manage feeds by deleting feeds, search within feeds, activite status, rename feeds, look at engagement percents, and more
  • Create rules for feeds to filter content
  • Add to a bundle with similar topics
  • Assign feeds to folders
  • Add gadgets to Dashboard layout according to needs
  • On the right-hand sidebar includes recommended sources based on followed or liked feeds
Cons
  • Does not have a lot of theme options
  • Layouts can look a bit busy for some users
  • If user wants more features then they would need to subscribe to a plan
  • The Dashboard does not include all feeds you collect
  • There does not seem to be a way to edit the appearance of feeds that show up on the Dashboard
  • Takes a bit of a learning curve to use the site depending on the user
  • The text-to-speech feature for feeds/articles is only available for Pro users- paid subscription
  • If you want to read the feeds then you would need to click on the link and it will open a new tab on your browser which will make the tab bar look busy if you open a lot of articles
  • User needs to adjust the layouts and add gadgets according to needs which can take some time
  • Depending of the feed, there might be a lot of content that the user might have a hard time keeping up with

My Experience

*Overall, I find the site of my choice to be really great. As a very visual person, I enjoyed how appealing it is to me as a user. The layout appearance options available to me were incredible and I like that I can change them according to my needs or how I want my Dashboard to look. I enjoyed the filter options within each feed I want to look at. I think my favorite feature is when I go into the individual articles themselves and I have so many sharing options based on what I need such as: copy the URL, share on Twitter, share on Facebook, email, add it to Blogger, add it to Google Drive, add it to my Pocket, print the article, save it as a PDF file, or even add additional sites I want to share with such as my Tumblr account or a school website. It's such an amazing feature to have for when I want to have ready made articles just to use or share with others. I chose this one over the others because of the visual appeal it had plus all the available features made it so worthwhile as a choice of Feed Reader. I really believe Inoreader is an excellent choice for a feed reader because it has an amazing layout that you can customize, organize feeds into bundles or folders, create rules for specific content, and add highlighters of key phrases or words you want to have highlighted in articles with a color of choice. Try Inoreader today, I highly recommend it.

  1. Your introduction hooked me so quickly! I love that you picked Ionreader, as I loved that one for a visual too. I was torn between the Ionreader and Good News. I ended up going with Good News but your blog has made me consider switching to Ionreader just because of the visual appeal. Thank you for sharing the blogs you follow, I follow three of those same blogs! It is fun looking at post that bring me back to my childhood from the 80's and 90's. My kids are big gamers too so I enjoy those blogs as well.

  2. I really liked how you organized your blog. The pictures you posted on how Inoreader is very helpful. I like how the dashboard looks. You are correct though; I made my decision on choosing a reader based on how simple it looked. It was interesting to see all the pros it has, but I can see how similar these feed readers are. I did not know of most of the blogs. I look forward to checking them out!

  4. Hi Alexa! I really appreciate your breakdown of all the pros and cons of Inoreader. This feed reader was one of the ones I was considering, and your list of positives makes me want to go back and give it another try. I don't think I dug deep enough to see all this program had to offer. While I loved the picture highlights that reminded me of Pinterest of Instagram, and I didn't find it as user-friendly as Good News, the program I chose to use for my personal feed reader.

I love that you shared a list of blogs you found on Tumblr, and I'm looking forward to checking them out! I personally haven't fully jumped on the Tumblr bandwagon as I found it hard to navigate, and it was rather challenging for me to locate blogs of interest. Thank you for giving me a starting point with browsing this new (to me) resource!
